Thai adenium grafted with 4 colours (25 years old)
Benefits of keeping adenium as a houseplant:
In general, adenium is widely grown because it has an attractive tree shape and bonsai shape. Adenium is a very beautiful plant. Adenium has the advantage of being a native which is long flowering, colorful, drought tolerant, low in its water demand and easy to care for. In fact, the main problem most gardeners run into when they first get one is overwatering.
Sunlight
When growing a desert rose in hot weather, it needs to be treated like a tropical plant, meaning it should be exposed to full sunlight and watered regularly.
Fertilizer
For an added dose of nutrients (and potentially more flowers), you can feed your desert rose with a liquid fertilizer (diluted by half) once a month during its active growth period. Do not fertilize the plant during the dormant period.
Easy Care Tips
If you do prune, make sure it is done in early summer to allow wounds to heal and new growth to have time to fill out the form of the plant.
Adeniums should be fertilized when they are actively growing during the spring and summer months. We recommend a balanced fertilizer with a high middle number (phosphorus) to aid in flower formation.
