The enormous evergreen perennial shrub species Philodendron Rojo congo has meaty red stems and large, beautiful leaves that range in form from lance to oval. This enormous plant complements green foliage plants beautifully and works well in open areas.

Its young leaves start off dark brown to coppery red and eventually turn dark green or green with a reddish tinge. The leaf stems have a vivid crimson colour.

Planting and care

Sunlight   

At least 1-3 hours of preferably morning sunlight a day is ideal for plants to grow well and natural indirect bright light for the rest of the day.

Watering   

Before water poke your finger/plain small stick into the soil to check the moisture.

Water when topsoil (1-2 inches) feels dry to touch.

Soil   

The soil should be well drained and fertile, rich in organic content for growing plants.

Temperature   

20 to 30 degree Celsius

Fertilizer   

During the main growing season (June-July) feed the plant with organic fertilizer.

Philodendron uses

It is favoured for mass planting and as a specimen plant, and it makes a great container or indoor plant.
