Philodendrons were first discovered in the rainforests of Brazil in the 1600s, so these plants are meant to live in tropical locations. They are easily recognized for their attractive white and green striped leaves.

Soil and fertilizer

Use well drained soil with moderate water holding capacity. For optimum growth, create a potting mix using 50% peat moss and 50% perlite. You can cover the soil mixture with worm compost soil. During the summer, apply a balanced liquid plant food every third watering.

Light

Philodendron Birkin can survive in lightly shaded conditions, they prefer to receive more light than shade. Avoid direct sunlight, as the leaves can get sunburned if exposed to too much light.

Water

The most challenging part of Birkin care is watering. Plants wither from lack of water, and vice versa can lead to root rot. Based on our experience, we recommend watering the plant every 7-10 days.
