Soil- For succulents, the most important soil characteristic is drainage. Thick, compact soil that does not allow good drainage is the biggest problem for succulents. If the soil is not well drained, the roots will be constantly wet.
Light- Pachyphytum is similar to other succulents. It needs plenty of direct natural sunlight to be able to produce enough chlorophyll through the process of photosynthesis. Bright sunlight is also essential for the plant to keep its intense color.
Water- Pachyphytum hookeri is a particular succulent when it comes to water requirements. It requires very little water.
Propagation- Leaf cutting involves cutting a young leaf from near the center of the rosette. Leave the leaf outside in the open air for a day to allow the wound to harden. Next, dip the leaf in rooting hormone and place it (cut-side down) in a slightly moist succulent potting mix. Soon a new rosette will develop from the base of the leaf. As soon as sufficient roots are present, remove the original leaf cutting and replant the rosette.
