How to Plant Climbing Rose Flower Plant:
Dig a hole twice as wide as the root spread and approximately 2 feet deep, positioning the center 18 to 30 inches from the support. For bare-root roses, create a soil cone in the center of the roots.
Plant the graft union (where the top meets the bottom) 2 to 6 inches below the soil line in cold-winter climates, or slightly above the soil level in warmer regions.
Adjust the soil level under the plant, water deeply, and then apply compost, well-rotted manure, and a phosphorus-rich fertilizer like bone meal around the plant. Water again.
Spread a mulch of wood chips, cocoa bean hulls, or similar material around the plant, being careful not to mound it around the rose's trunk.
