Ixia plants belong to the family Iridaceae. They are commonly grown as ornamentals. The plant's basic features include star-shaped flowers of various colors ranging from yellow to white and pink and prominent bulbs. They are popularly called Corn lily, Wand flower, etc. The plant grows up to a height of 18 inches.

WEATHER REQUIREMENTS:

The plant demands well-drained,moist soil. The flowers bloom with attractive vibrant colors during the months of spring(February-March) to summer(May-July). It requires direct sunlight for 4-5 hours a day.

HOW TO PROPAGATE IXIA BULBS:

Corn lilies are the best-preferred option to cover up the edges of a garden, balcony, or terrace space of a building. The bulbs are sown at one inch deep in the soil bed with a spacing of 4 inches between two consecutive bulbs with 4 inches of the bulb portion below the soil level. As the plant prefers moist soil , a wet soil surface has to be ensured by frequent watering. Dried bulbs can be stored in a cool space for future use.
