Why Calla Lily?
Calla lilies are easy to grow and usually don't require much attention. They are ideal for pots, borders and are an excellent garden plant when planted in large numbers with different colors. Potted calla lilies can be brought indoors during flowering for a short period of time. They make excellent cut flowers and come in a variety of colors.
When to plant calla lilies?
Calla lilies are best planted from September to December.
Requires rich, moist soil with plenty of organic matter added. Well broken animal manure, blood and bones or whole manure for flowering plants can be added to the soil before planting. The soil must be well drained as the rhizomes will rot if kept too wet.
During summer they need to be kept moist, so do not allow them to dry out as this will trigger dormancy. These rhizomes like lots of water as long as they don't sit in water for too long. So they need good drainage. Does not like waterlogging as the rhizome may rot.
