How to create a butterfly garden
Butterflies are one of the most appealing insects seen in your garden , these winged creatures flitting from one flower to another pleases everyone , apart from this butterflies are important pollinators along with being promoters of environmental awareness within the mass . The idea of butterfly garden is to have such plants in your garden which butterflies love to visit periodically so that you never miss a chance to have a glimpse of butterflies in your own backyard .
Particularly for a butterfly garden there are basically two types of plants – host plants and nectar plants . Nectar plants attracts the butterflies and provide them nectar that butterflies drink from the flowers . This includes mainly flowering plant like marigold and dahlia.
While host plants attracts egg laying female adult butterfly also it provides leaves that caterpillar eat after which it turns into cocoon . This includes – false Ashoka , curry leaves , citrus etc.
