Crocosmia is a plant that blooms gorgeous flowers. It can be grown in every place due to its tolerating nature. It is capable of tolerating all types of climate as well as temperature. Crocosmia is planted through corms.
Montbretia
Crocosmia was previously called montbretia. Some crocosmia plants are floral plants whereas some are non floral. The non floral ones bear pleated leaves whereas floral ones bear normal leaves along with flowers . The flowering occurs during the summer season mostly. The plant starts blooming in the month of July and lasts till October. Montbretia is a clump forming perennial which multiplies very quickly. This plant requires very little care and once established some bone meal should be applied over it in the spring season. This will provide strength to the plant and enhance the blooming.
Crocosmia crocosmiiflora
Crocosmia crocosmiiflora is a type of crocosmia plant that is planted through corms. The tip of the corm is kept on the upward side and the root of the corm should be kept downward . If the planting is done in pots then a certain distance should be maintained. While planting 3 to 4 corms in a pot a certain distance should be maintained to avoid heavy competition between them. After planting water properly to make the soil wet so that it would get favourable conditions to flourish. The plant loves sun so it can be kept in full sunlight. Other than this it is a heavy feeder of potassium so potassium fertilizer should be applied to enhance flowering.
