Beneficial insect’s for plants

Generally insects in your garden cause great damage to your plants , but sometimes they can be beneficial as well , there are some insect species which provide long – term sustainable pest control solution by preying on the predators thus forming a natural biological control solution in your garden .

              

  • Ladybug – Ladybugs also called ladybeetles are beneficial group of insects as they are natural enemy of many insects including aphids and sap feeders . Adult lady beetles have very characteristic convex, hemispherical to oval shaped bodies that can be yellow, pink, orange, red, or black, and usually are marked with distinct spots.  Plants like fennel , marigold attracts ladybug’s .

            

  • Ground beetles – The larvae of ground beetle eat slug snails , squash vine borer and tobacco bud worms . Ground beetles are not attracted to the garden by specific plants, but a diversity of perennial plants will give them places to hide and find food.
  • Minute pirate bugs – They are tiny pirate bug which move fast and are very predatory . They feed on no. of insects including aphids , spider mites and thrips . Planting nectar-rich, spring and summer flowering shrubs and ornamentals is a good way of attracting pirate bugs to the garden .
